Three weeks ago, the Supreme Court found in favor of a judicial review on the case of the fake Bank Century letter of credit involving Misbakhun, a member of the House of Representatives (DPR) from the Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS). That decision went against the guilty verdict issued by the Jakarta District Court. Misbakhun, who is not detained, was of course, elated, particularly since one of the three Supreme Court justices hearing the case, Artidjo Alkostar, is known to be an idealist. "Who doubts Artidjo? Who can influence Artidjo?" he asked, rhetorically.
Artidjo actually disagreed with the rest of the judges in the panel which favored Misbakhun. He admitted to a dissenting opinion, in opposition to his two fellow judges, Zaharudin Utama and Mansyur Kertayasa. "There was no new evidence in the case," explained Artidjo, a former lawyer with the Legal Aid Institute (LBH).
