He was no indigenous Indonesian, but Ernest François Eugène Douwes Dekker called himself a Javanese wherever he went. He had an incredible love for the Indies. Dekker dedicated almost all of his life toward the achievement of Indonesian independence.
8 October 1879 Born in Pasuruan. Ernest Douwes Dekker, better known as DD, studied in elementary school in Batavia. He continued his studies at the Hogere Burger School in Surabaya and Batavia.
