A sense of desertion surrounded the Plaza Alstom building on Jalan T.B Simatupang in South Jakarta two weeks ago. A large portion of the building's workforce had already left work. In the lot of the building's ninth floor, only four cars were parked out. Two of the security officers intercepted Tempo attempting to enter the lot, to verify the presence of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigation team there. "There must be confirmation first from the people within to allow you inside," said a security officer named M. Yunus. He said he did not know what was happening with the KPK team on that particular day.
