Tourists on Komodo Island recently held their breaths momentarily. But the cause was neither the amazing dragons nor the world-renowned dive sites of the island, like Batu Bolong or Tetawa Kecil. A group of divers were swimming around Cannibal Rock, a submerged sea mount located between Rinca and Nusa Kode islands at Komodo, when they heard "four loud blasts." They later learned the sounds were bombings of coral reefs by local fishermen, in order to catch fish the easy way. The incident occurred a little after 9 am on July 6, after which one of them contacted Tempo English and a few select media with the story and pictures.
