SURROUNDED by rice paddies and songbirds in the morning, the environment around Muhammad Luthfi Nurfakhri's home is pleasant indeed. Living in the Pasir Mulya subdistrict of West Bogor, Luthfi passes through acres of paddy fields every single day. He has also befriended the local farmers there.
This 11th grade student of Bogor State High School 1, however, is not the son of a farmer. His father, Iyus Hendrawan, is an agriculture engineering lecturer at the Indonesian Institute of Technology in Serpong. Luthfi obtained his knowledge on agriculture by observing rice plants growing in his surroundings.
